Alfa Romeo driver Valtteri Bottas says he is still using a sauna of an evening despite the very hot weather in the south of France.

Formula 1 is at Circuit Paul Ricard this weekend and it looks set to be a blisteringly warm few days with temperatures in the mid to high 30s being forecast.

It'll be another test of the drivers' fitness and endurance, then, but that is something that they will feel as though they can deal with, and Bottas should be very well adapted indeed with him revealing on Thursday that he'd still been using his sauna at home despite the temperatures outside.

Being from Finland, it's no surprise to hear how much Bottas likes getting into the sauna and, despite the temperatures outside, he's not stopped himself from taking it to even warmer extremes.

Speaking to the press gathered here in France, Bottas first said that living in the area as he does (he currently resides in Monaco) has helped him get used to conditions in the last few days:

"It makes a small difference if you're acclimatised to the heat. Since the last race except one day I've been at home and it's been pretty hot. Even though it's been 35C I've still been in the sauna in the evenings because I like it!"

Bottas was then asked if being in the sauna could help give him a little edge, in being able to deal with very warm conditions:

"I think there's proof that it helps like it is heat training in a way and especially if you push yourself a little bit more and get a bit uncomfortable, I hope it helps Sunday."

Ultimately, every Formula 1 driver is an elite athlete at the pinnacle of performance and endurance, and all 20 should be able to deal with the sweltering conditions this weekend.
