He may no longer be a WWE Superstar, but former world champion Batista has been spotted training with a member of the current roster.

Batista was one of WWE’s headline acts during the Ruthless Aggression Era, winning six world titles and three tag team titles during his time at the top of the WWE tree. He also won two Royal Rumbles as was part of one of the most decorated factions in history, Evolution.

Since moving on from WWE the 53-year-old has stayed in prime condition and has been seen working alongside a familiar face while keeping in shape. Batista was pictured with ex-UFC fighter Matt Arroyo and current WWR star MVP.

MVP posted the image to his Instagram account, showing the trio working out at Gracie Tampa South Martial Arts and captioned it by saying…

I had a great time training with Professor Matt and Dave this evening! Good technique and quality rounds! I needed that! #bjj #brazilianjiujitsu #grapplers #bjjlife #legitaf”

The Animal hasn’t wrestled since WrestleMania 35, when he brought the curtain down on his pro wrestling career in a No Holds Barred defeat to Triple H. In 2020 he was set to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame but was later postponed due to the coronavirus global pandemic.

Life after WWE has been pretty sweet for Batista and is now a major player in Hollywood and best known for his portrayal of Drax as part of Marvel’s Guardian of the Galaxy films. A third instalment of the franchise hits cinemas next spring.

Outside of the Marvel multiverse he has also starred a number of films including Dune, My Spy, Final Score and Blade Runner 2049. He’ll be next seen starring alongside Daniel Craig, Ed Norton and Kate Hudson in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, released in September.
