Tottenham are long–term admirers of Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans as they ponder further transfer additions, according to journalist Paul Brown.

Antonio Conte has already added six new names to his side this summer but director of football Fabio Paratici is not resting just yet with plenty of time left in the window.

What is the latest transfer news from Tottenham?

With Ivan Perisic, Clement Lenglet, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Djed Spence and Fraser Forster already arriving, you would be forgiven for thinking Tottenham have done all their transfer business early this summer.

The bulk of it may well have been completed already but Conte is reportedly considering one more addition in the form of a creative midfield presence.

Tottenham have been reported to hold a long-term interest in Leicester ace James Maddison with Conte likely eager to stop Harry Kane from feeling obliged to drop deep and create himself.

Christian Eriksen was linked with a return to north London after his spell with Brentford came to an end but Manchester United won the race for the Denmark international.

But according to Brown, Spurs still hold an interest in Leicester’s other highly-rated midfield presence.

What has Brown said about Tielemans?

Brown told GIVEMESPORT: “I think he's someone that Spurs have looked at for quite a long time and that he might be a better fit than someone like Maddison in the system. Conte has done quite a lot of retooling in attack and midfield, but I think he has some of the kind of qualities that would fit at Spurs. He has a good passing range and I think he'd get involved and be a good signing for them. But I think that would be the only other signing they make. They’d have to spend the rest of their budget to get him I think.”

Who should Spurs target out of Maddison and Tielemans?

Both players would represent exciting and progressive moves but bring different qualities to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Maddison would undoubtedly bring a greater direct goal threat. Last season he racked up 18 goals and 12 assists in all competitions while Tielemans scored seven goals and provided five assists.

However, Brown is correct in his assessment that the Belgian could be a better fit in a Conte team.

His preferred 3-4-3 formation leaves little room for Maddison to occupy his preferred number 10 role and would likely have to play off either wing - but would he prove an upgrade on Richarlision or Dejan Kulusevski in that capacity?

Tielemans on the other hand has experience playing in a midfield duo and having partnered a Wilfried Ndidi for years, would likely adapt with ease to playing alongside either Bissouma or Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Arsenal also hold an interest in the £120,000-a-week ace, with Leicester apparently willing to accept offers of just £25 million.
