There ‘might be more chance’ of West Ham United signing Adnan Januzaj now that Jesse Lingard is no longer an option, according to journalist Dean Jones.

David Moyes has already brought in a handful of new recruits this summer and further acquisitions are expected to follow in what remains of the summer transfer window.

What is the latest news involving Januzaj?

Lingard had long been linked with a return to West Ham but has secured a surprise switch to newly-promoted Nottingham Forest on a one-year deal.

That has left the Hammers looking for alternative targets in the final third of the pitch, and Januzaj could be one of the targets Moyes looks to bring in ahead of the upcoming campaign.

90min have reported that West Ham are keeping tabs on the 27-year-old, who has become a free agent after his contract with Real Sociedad expired at the end of last month.

It was Moyes who gave Januzaj his senior debut while they were at Manchester United together before then signing him on loan while he was in charge of Sunderland.

Only time will tell if the duo will be reunited at the London Stadium, but the Belgium international could be a good value-for-money addition.

What has Jones said about Januzaj?

Jones has informed GiveMeSport that a deal is ‘pretty much set up’ for Januzaj, who has already turned down an approach from Saudi Arabia side Al Nassr.

In an interview with GMS, he said: “Now that Lingard has not arrived there might be more chance of the Januzaj arrival.

“He’s got options but has definitely been keen on playing for Moyes, and the deal is pretty much set up and can move fast if they want to go for it.”

Where would Januzaj fit in at West Ham?

Januzaj is capable of playing on either flank, although predominantly lines up on the right-hand-side.

In 269 senior club appearances, the 6 foot 1 ace has registered 29 goals and 33 assists for the likes of Manchester United, Sunderland and Real Sociedad.

Jarrod Bowen impressed on the right-wing for West Ham last term, although the added strength in depth that Januzaj could provide would surely be welcomed, especially with European football returning to the London Stadium once again.

West Ham have reportedly just launched bids for Filip Kostic and Luke Thomas, and Januzaj could be next on their priority list.
