Hasim Rahman Jr says he 'can't wait' to prove people wrong as he prepares to face Jake Paul.

Rahman Jr, the only son of the boxing legend, is set to face the American social media star at Madison Square Garden in New York on August 6.

It will be his first fight since being knocked out by Kenzie Morrison back in April.

Rahman's chances of winning the grudge match have been written off by many.

But he is understandably in a confident mood due to his wealth of amateur experience.

And while admitting that he may have underestimated Morrison, the former amateur boxer believes he is capable of inflicting a first defeat on the trash-talking YouTuber.

During an appearance on The MMA Hour, Rahman said: “I like to see the look on people’s faces afterward.

Jake Paul is set to return to the ring this summer

“Dana White’s not the only person. There’s a few people I can’t wait to see their face when I punish this kid, because they know better.

“Tim Bradley, Eddie Hearn, Dana White, they’re going to be like, ‘I knew it.’ But that’s not you said. Stand on what you said.

“My last fight, I admittedly took my opponent lightly. I didn’t think Kenzie was as good as he was. I think if I hadn’t, we would have had a different result.”

“I think the work that I’ve put in and the work that I’m putting in is more than sufficient to get the job done.

“I don’t think he can match me skill for skill. His only hope is that I get tired and I fatigue in some way and he lands a big punch.

"But I don’t think he’s going to keep standing — I’m going to put these paws on him, and I don’t think Jake’s been in this amount of pain yet.

“I feel like it’s the catapult that I needed to get to a world title.”

Rahman - who had over 100 amateur fights - also responded to Paul's claims that he was demanding more money to fight him which he insisted couldn't be further from the truth.

He continued: "Jake says a lot of things. Jake says a lot of things that aren't true. As you can see at the presser, I thought we were going to have more time so I could pick out all these untrue things that he says.

"He just likes to open his mouth and just blabble out what he thinks people want to hear or things for content reasons or to catch headlines.

"There was never a request from me for more money. I knew coming into the fight how much money I was making. I never said anything about getting more pay or anything like that.

"I actually was getting my hair re-twisted while you guys were on the show and it popped up and I'm watching it and I'm completely surprised. I was like 'what is he talking about?' The interview ends and I call his team like what's going on why are they saying I'm asking for this I'm asking for that when I'm not?

"I'm literally telling his team this in front of the all-access cameras so that it can expose this man for the fraud he is.

"I just think he's a fake, he's a phoney, he's got all the fake and phoney stuff about him.

"But he is a real fighter, I do respect him as such, and that's why I'm taking this fight so serious."
