Erling Haaland scored just 12 minutes into his Manchester City debut as they beat Bayern Munich 1-0 in America.

Haaland started the match and put his side ahead as he slid in to finish Jack Grealish's low cross.

The first of many.

Haaland arrives at City in a deal worth around £63 million. The Dortmund striker is expected to be the missing piece of the jigsaw for City to finally win the Champions League.

The 22-year-old arrived at the club short of fitness and has been eased into the fold, playing just 45 minutes against Bayern.

But it was enough for him to produce an exciting performance.

One that you can check out below with his individual highlights:

Guardiola on Haaland

However, Guardiola insisted that Haaland needs time to get to his very best.

"He scored a goal which is important, these type of goals in front of keeper - always he’s there," said Pep.

"The first minutes, he needs more rhythm and time but already he had 45 minutes which is good for him.

"We’ll see how he reacts to the niggles that he had in the previous weeks.

"After we come back we have long weeks to prepare every weekend game. In those two or three weeks we will get the best form."

It was only Manchester City's second pre-season fixture having beaten Club America on Thursday.

Kevin De Bruyne scored twice while wearing the captain's armband in Houston.

City have had a busy pre-season in the transfer market with the signings of Haaland, Kalvin Phillips, Stefan Ortega and Julian Alvarez. They've also seen Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko leave the club to Premier League rivals.

Guardiola is happy with Man City's summer

But Guardiola admitted he's happy with his side's business so far.

"Erling and Julian are here and will have a positive effect on our game," he said.

"We scored a lot of goals last season; we won the Premier League and got the semifinals of the Champions League. We were one of the top scorers in Europe.

"So far I am so excited and so happy [with the makeup of the squad].

"Sometimes the market was strange for us. Normally we are a team that buy and didn’t sell much. This summer for different reasons, we sell some players.

"Sometimes you want to do it but you can’t. This summer it happened so quick. not just first-team players - academy and loan players. New players have come and we continue with them.

"One of the things I am trying to discover before we buy a player is if he is a nice guy. I don’t like to work much with guys who are not nice. When you have a locker room and the chemistry is good, that is worth more than hours of tactics.

"This summer we have bought some exceptional people. And the rest we know each other.

"And we are sad because Raheem, Gabriel and Oleks were incredibly beloved.

"Since I arrived in Manchester, the chemistry has been incredible. It makes things good for me."

City will return to England to face Liverpool in the Community Shield next week before the start of their title defence begins away to West Ham on the opening weekend.

Bayern Munich had also only played one pre-season friendly before the clash, against Wayne Rooney's DC United on Thursday. The Bavarians ran out 6-2 winners with Sadio Mane and Matthijs de Ligt both scoring on their debuts as well as goals from Thomas Muller, Marcel Sabitzer, Serge Gnabry and Joshua Zirkzee in Washington.

Julien Nagelsmann's side face RB Leipzig in the DFL-Supercup next weekend as they start their competitive campaign.
