British MMA legend and former UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping recently made a massive claim regarding the upcoming bout between Nate Diaz and Khamzat Chiamev.

The contest between the two Welterweight fighters is expected to be taking place at UFC 279, with the bout having been ‘verbally agreed.’

Many have already said that this is a lopsided affair, with Chimaev ascending at a rapid rate up the UFC roster towards a highly-anticipated showdown with 170-pound Champion Kamaru Usman.

Here is what Michael Bisping had to say with regards to Nate Diaz vs Khamzat Chiamev, which is expected to be taking place at UFC 279.

Bisping on Diaz vs Chimaev

Speaking to Barstool Sports (via BJPenn.com), ‘The Count’ would not mince his words when it came to his views on the expected mega bout.

He said: “Which one intrigues me the most? It isn’t Khamzat and Nate Diaz, that doesn’t intrigue me. You know why? He’s going to run over him.

“Listen, Diaz is tough as they come, you know what I mean? Don’t take what I said as insulting to Diaz. He’s very tough, he’s very game, he always comes in shape, he never gives up. He was getting outclassed by Leon Edwards for five rounds, did he almost finish him in the fifth round? Yes, he did.

“…But, Khamzat is a bigger, scarier dude. Diaz has struggled at 170, he’s a natural 155er, let’s be honest. You never know, nothing is given in this sport. If you take someone lightly, if you take anything for granted, it could come back to bite you in the a*s.”

Conor McGregor vs Nate Diaz III Not Happening?

Although Diaz vs Chimaev will undoubtedly be a big deal in terms of being a box office draw, some had expected the UFC to put Diaz back in the octagon with Conor McGregor for a trilogy contest.

With this supposedly being the final fight on Diaz’s UFC contract, it’s unlikely that we will ever see the rematch between him and ‘Notorious.’

Whilst we’re still waiting for the official confirmation from the company, Diaz vs Chimaev will surely pick up hype in the following weeks ahead of the UFC 279 event in September!
