Barcelona beat Real Madrid in the first El Clasico of the season - a friendly in Nevada.

Raphinha scored the only goal of the match with the Brazilian hitting an unstoppable strike past Thibaut Courtois from 25 yards.

It was a stunning goal in what was a very heated El Clasico.

With Barcelona having strengthened heavily this summer, they're now in a position to challenge Real Madrid for La Liga this season under Xavi.

And it seems the rivalry is well and truly back.

The two sets of players clashed just before half time and Barca defenders tried - and eventually succeeded - in bringing down Vinicius Junior during a promising run.

During that clash, two players were going at each other particularly strongly - defenders Ronald Araujo and Antonio Rudiger.

But it wasn't the first time the pair had come face-to-face during the game.

Just moments earlier, Barcelona's 23-year-old defender decided he would attempt to beat the former Chelsea defender with pace.

It was an ambitious attempt considering Rudiger was statistically the fastest player in the Premier League last season.

However, despite having a few yards head start, Rudiger was absolutely smoked by the Uruguyan with both pace and strength.

Incredible.

It's no wonder Rudiger wanted a piece of Araujo during their clash. But he appeared to come off second worse once again as the Barca man showed his incredible strength once again to hold Rudiger back.

Araujo 2-0 Rudiger.

Xavi gives his thoughts on Barcelona 1-0 Real Madrid

After the match, Xavi admitted he thought the performance from his side in the first half was 'brilliant' and he was 'satisfied' with the win.

“The first half was brilliant, but the second half was complicated," Xavi said.

“We came here to win and we did it. We suffered towards the end of the game but I am still satisfied with today’s match.

“We were the better team. At Barcelona, there are no friendly matches… We always want to win, especially against Real Madrid."

So far this summer, Barca have signed Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski, Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen. However, Xavi believes the club are ready to sign even more players despite their seemingly precarious financial position.

“We will try to reinforce all positions in the XI," he said.
