Guardiola on Haaland's debut

"He scored a goal which is important, these type of goals in front of keeper - always he’s there," the Spaniard said.

"The first minutes, he needs more rhythm and time but already he had 45 minutes which is good for him.

"We’ll see how he reacts to the niggles that he had in the previous weeks.

"After we come back we have long weeks to prepare every weekend game. In those two or three weeks we will get the best form."

The initial signs with regards to Haaland in a City shirt certainly look good, though, and he already looks to be getting on very well with his teammates.

Him and Grealish seem to be striking up a bit of a bromance, which was further highlighted by the moment the two shared in the tunnel during the Bayern game.

If you're a City fan, you just love to see it.

Haaland's goal against Bayern was a classic poacher's one and having a player who bags them on a regular basis will make the Premier League champions a far more fearsome prospect in 2022/23.

It may also help bring the best out in Grealish.

Man City duo Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland

The £100 million signing from Aston Villa had a fairly underwhelming debut season at City and failed to really nail down a place in the starting XI.

But with Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus now gone, Grealish has the chance to become one of the team's main men and act as the perfect foil for Haaland.

At Villa, Grealish thrived when playing alongside a recognised striker in Ollie Watkins, finishing the 2020/21 season with 12 assists from 26 Premier League games.
