Gabriel Jesus has the potential to be the best Premier League signing of 2022.

Consistently underrated across a five-year spell at Manchester City where he never got the chance to shine as the main man, Jesus now has it within his hands to make himself an Arsenal hero.

The Gunners have been very active in the transfer market this summer with Fábio Vieira, Matt Turner, Marquinhos and Oleksandr Zinchenko  all coming through the door at Emirates Stadium.

Jesus' arrival at Arsenal

However, there's no denying that Jesus' arrival has been the most eye-catching of all, finally representing a top-class successor for the latterly-inconsistent Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

And not only does Jesus boast 19 goals from 56 caps for Brazil at just 25 years old, but he also has Premier League experience to burn with 159 appearances, 58 goals and 29 assists in the competition.

Throw in the fact that he's topped the division four times with the Citizens and there's more reasons to think that Jesus will be a success in north London than you can count on two hands.

As such, we should hardly be surprised to see that Jesus has featured prominently in Arsenal's sensational pre-season campaign, which has brought with it wins over Nurnberg, Everton and Orlando City.

Jesus' MOTM highlights vs Chelsea

However, the most impressive result of all came on Sunday when Arsenal put their fellow Premier League 'big six' club Chelsea to the sword 4-0 at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida.

Jesus bagged his fourth pre-season goal in as many games to open the scoring against Arsenal's London rivals, before Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka and Albert Sambi Lokonga turned the match into a rout.

However, it wasn't just the chipped one-on-one finish from Jesus that delighting onlookers with his all-round performance proving so impressive that he picked up the Man of the Match award.

And when you watch his individual highlights, it's easy to see why, because Jesus was frankly running Chelsea ragged with turns, passes, transitions and dribbles that make it clear he's just signed from a Pep Guardiola side.

So, be sure to get excited, Arsenal fans, by watching back Jesus' masterclass from the Chelsea thrashing to see exactly why he could prove to be the signing of the summer.

Ability for days.

Signing of the season potential

There are certain players who arrive at a club with so much top-class talent that everything from the way they move on the pitch to the way they receive the ball just lets you know that they mean serious, serious business.

And you certainly say that about Jesus because every time he's taken to the pitch in an Arsenal shirt so far, he's given off the aura of a player who's ready to be the star.

Only time will tell whether Jesus can shoulder that pressure when competitive games finally get underway, but the prospect of the Brazilian finally playing consistently as an out-and-out number nine is certainly a tantalising one.

Don't be surprised if we look back on this transfer in May as the very best to have been wrapped up all season. Jesus really is that good.
