Vince McMahon shocked the wrestling world on Friday afternoon by announcing his immediate retirement from WWE.

Vince's responsibilities as Chairman, CEO and Head of Creative have been redistributed, with Stephanie McMahon taking on some of those responsibilities.

Stephanie, who is Vince's daughter in case you didn't know, has now become WWE's permanent Chairwoman, and will also serve as the co-CEO alongside Nick Khan.

While Stephanie is now essentially running WWE, Vince's other child, Shane McMahon wasn't given any power in the new corporate shakeup.

Shane was actually involved with WWE at the beginning of the year, but a reported bust-up with his father lead to his departure from the company.

As a reminder, Shane was brought in for the Royal Rumble in January, both as a competitor in the match and for assistance behind the scenes in putting the bout together.

However, reports state that Shane wanted to put himself in prominent positions in the match, especially towards the end, something that Brock Lesnar, who was winning the match, took issue with.

The issues then found their way to Vince McMahon, who took Brock's side, and went with the former WWE Champion's vision for the match.

Following that incident, reports claimed that Shane had been "let go" by the company, and was taken out of his proposed match at WrestleMania 38.

And now, following Vince's retirement from WWE, more has emerged about his bust-up with Shane from earlier this year.

Fightful Select is reporting that Vince was so irate about how things went down that he said that his son would never get another pop in WWE as long as he was around."

Those close to Vince noted he went as far as to say Shane "would never get another pop in this company as long as I'm around."

It's worth stressing that the report does note that people within WWE thought that Vince said what he said in the heat of the moment, and they didn't think he'd actually stick by his word.

The irony is that Vince actually ended up being right, as Shane hasn't appeared on WWE TV since the Royal Rumble, and his father is no longer in charge of the company.

However, when Vince said what he said, he probably didn't think that less than seven months later, he'd be retiring from WWE, the company he's run since 1982.
