Conor McGregor is gearing up for a UFC return after being sidelined for over a year since his last fight against Dustin Poirier where he brutally broke his leg.
Since then, he has been teasing his return by sharing clips of his training regime including him practicing his kicking again after he made a full recovery from his injury.
We’re still waiting to find out who his opponent could be on his return to the Octagon, but with the anticipation of it, we’re certainly excited to hopefully see him soon.
Notorious had a meteoric rise through the UFC ranks, quickly becoming one of the biggest names in the sport, becoming a household name.
However, after a run of three defeats in his last four outings, including the loss to Poirier, his form certainly dropped off and it could take a while for him to get back to his best if he can reach those heights once again.
One of his best performances came back in the winter of 2016 when he took on Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 in the main event at Madison Square Garden.
McGregor knocked his opponent down three times during the fight and had secured the knockout in the second round to complete a dominant performance.

The fight was incredibly one-sided. The Irishman landed 40 strikes compared to Alvarez’s 12, hitting with a 43% success rate compared to 26.1% of his competitor.
Significant strikes in the contest painted a similar picture too. McGregor landed 32 at a success rate of 38.1% compared to just nine from his opponent at a success rate of just 21.9%.
MMA fan account on Twitter @CultureMMA_ shared footage of the knockout in that fight in super slow motion, showing McGregor avoiding Alvarez’s attempted attack before taking him down brutally.
It’s fascinating footage as you can see just how close McGregor was to taking a huge right hander, with just his nose being brushed thanks to his reactions.
They captioned the clip with a very apt quote ‘touch without being touched’ before labelling the fight as ‘one of the greatest performances in MMA history, by Conor McGregor.’
It’s hard to argue with those claims, it was a near perfect performance from Notorious, with the only downside for him being that he couldn’t get the victory inside the opening round.
If the Irishman can get anywhere near recreating that type of form on his return then UFC fans are in for a treat, watching Notorious put on a clinic once again in the Octagon.
