Karim Benzema had a quite ridiculous 2021/22 season.

The Frenchman was integral as Real Madrid won both La Liga and the Champions League.

He notched 27 goals in Spain's top tier and scored a ridiculous 15 goals in 12 Champions League matches.

His brilliance has seen him emerge as the overwhelming favourite to win the 2021/22 Ballon d'Or.

Benzema was given an extended holiday over the summer and recently joined up with Real Madrid for their tour of the United States.

And it hasn't taken him long to hit the ground running once again.

"I think he [Benzema] deserves to win the Ballon d’Or,” Hazard told ESPN, per Eurosport. “There's no doubt about it.

“But I think he deserves it not just for that season, but for his whole career. It's like he's been at the top for 15 years. Maybe he's scoring more goals, which is why people just want him to win this Ballon d'Or, but I think he deserved it before, like five years ago.

"He's our captain now and he's also like, a really good guy. He's not talking that much on the pitch, doing what he wants. He's our leader. So we just pushed him to go for the Ballon d'Or."
