Arsenal will "look at" signing PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo, according to The Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

Mikel Arteta has made five signings this window, although the Gunners boss is yet to bring in a winger having missed out on the likes of Raphinha and Serge Gnabry.

What's the latest news involving Gakpo?

It's been a promising transfer window for the north London outfit, who have responded to missing out on qualifying for the Champions League by bringing in Matt Turner, Marquinhos, Fabio Vieira, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko.

However, Arsenal are still hoping to bolster their wide department with just over five weeks to go until the market closes for business.

But according to Football.London, the Gunners are one of 'several' clubs interested in signing Gakpo, who made huge strides in Holland last season and is 'keen' to play in the Premier League.

The report states that the 23-year-old is one of Arsenal's alternatives to Raphinha, who was strongly linked with a move to the Emirates before he eventually opted to sign for Barcelona.

What did Taylor say about Gakpo?

Taylor revealed that Arsenal are expected to look into the possibility of signing the Dutch international but doesn't think that West Ham star Jarrod Bowen is likely despite recent links with a move across London.

He told GIVEMESPORT: "He's one they will look at. "I'm not sure about the links to Bowen, I don't think West Ham would consider a sale and if they did, it would take a ridiculously big offer."

How did Gakpo perform last season?

Bukayo Saka aside, Arsenal's wide players generally struggled for attacking output last term, with the likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Nicolas Pepe registering just seven goals between them.

But that certainly wasn't the case for Gakpo, who enjoyed an outstanding season in Holland to help PSV once again secure their place as runners up to Ajax.

The winger, who's now scored 42 goals in total for the Eredivisie giants, produced the best campaign of his career after finding the net a notable 21 times, while laying on 16 assists for his teammates.

As a result, Gakpo managed a goal contribution just under every 93 minutes, highlighting exactly why he has a host of Premier League sides on his radar.

Gakpo's lack of Premier League experience could be seen as a concern, but there's no doubt he's one of the most highly sought after young wide men in Europe right now.
