With the newest instalment of the much-loved FIFA franchise fast approaching, thoughts turn to player ratings.
Whether it be new signings or players that are breaking through, fans are predicting what is to come.
Mike Maignan – GK
Starting in between the sticks and there was a lot of worry in Milan following the departure of Gianluigi Donnarumma. His major sale to PSG was counteracted with the signing of Frenchman Mike Maignan, who played a big part in Lille’s title win. Fast forward 12 months, though, and Maignan was sensational as Piolo’s men lifted the Scudetto. Whilst Donnarumma struggled in Paris, Maignan is pushing for a starting spot in the French national team. He was an 84 on FIFA 22 and is predicted to be an 87 this time around.
James Tavernier – RB
Whilst Maignan enjoyed domestic success with the Rossoneri, full-back James Tavernier captained Rangers to the Europa League final. They may have come up short against Eintracht Frankfurt, but it was a great journey all the same. There is often talk of Tavernier moving to the Premier League as a prevalent goalscorer from right-back, but a new contract at Ibrox beckons. His rating is predicted as going from 77 to 81.
Jurrien Timber – CB
Partly due to Erik ten Hag’s move to Manchester United, this Ajax side is being picked apart once again. Young centre-half Jurrien Timber is remaining in place in Amsterdam as it stands, though. He was heavily linked with following his manager to Old Trafford off the back of a superb season. Timber will be duly rewarded with an upgrade, the prediction being a jump from 75 to 80.
Nico Schlotterbeck – CB
Onto the first new signing of the team as Nico Schlotterbeck has been snapped up by Borussia Dortmund. Both Schlotterbeck and Niklas Sule have joined the Black and Yellows in the defensive department. He was at the heart of Freiburg’s surprising success and will surely go from being a silver card to a gold card on Ultimate Team.
Tyrick Mitchell – LB
Now to the Premier League where a number of youngsters have been thriving under Patrick Vieira at Selhurst Park. Crystal Palace full-back Tyrick Mitchell earned his first cap in Gareth Southgate’s England squad as a result. Aaron Wan-Bissaka was the big sale on the other side of the defence not long ago, and Mitchell could soon follow suit. It is predicted that he will also become a gold card, going from 70 to 77.
Benjamin Bourigeaud – CM
As well as being a regular in the FIFA 22 TOTW, Benjamin Bourigeaud earnt himself a spot in the Ligue 1 TOTS. He operated mainly on the right for Rennes and so his card next year could reflect that. Bourigeaud is predicted to hit the 80s, going from 78 to 81.
Christopher Nkunku – CM
There weren’t many better performers across Europe last term than Christopher Nkunku. The Frenchman was at the heart of RB Leipzig’s success along with the arrival of Domenico Tedesco into the technical area. Nkunku’s goal and assist numbers were crazy and yet he has signed a new deal with Leipzig. If they are to push Bayern Munich for the title, Nkunku will need to hit these heights once again. His 81 rating is predicted to become a strong 85.
Scott Twine – CM
Scott Twine, formerly of MK Dons, being a centre-mid on FIFA says it all. Twine was part of a forward line alongside Troy Parrott and Theo Corbeanu and performed oh so well that, whilst the Dons missed out on promotion, he has earned himself a move to newly relegated Burnley. His four goals on the final day of the season at Home Park against Plymouth Argyle says it all. His 65 is predicted to reach 72 and he will surely get a position change too.
Arnaut Danjuma – LW
Along with Nkunku, another of the biggest performers on the continent was Arnaut Danjuma. The Dutchman impressed for Bournemouth in the Championship, but went to a new level under Unai Emery in La Liga. Villarreal continued to enjoy their exploits on the continent and Danjuma, along with Gerard Moreno, was key in the attacking third. He is now subject to interest from the likes of Atletico Madrid and West Ham.
Darwin Nunez – ST
One of the biggest transfers when it comes to the coverage and the price is Darwin Nunez joining Liverpool. He impressed for Benfica both domestically and in the Champions League. As a result, he has been brought on board by Jurgen Klopp at Anfield. His 75 will become an 81 at least and this will only raise as he will surely thrive for the Reds.
Dusan Vlahovic – ST
The final name on the list is another striker who recently made a move. Whilst Nunez arrived in England this summer, Juventus snapped up Dusan Vlahovic back in the January window. He was a constant threat in front of goal for Fiorentina and continued to impress with the Bianconeri. 78 is predicted as becoming an 84, making him a shiny gold card.
Here are a few honourable mentions, who also have enjoyed success recently:
- Ronald Araujo (CB, Barcelona): 77 to 81
- William Saliba (CB, Arsenal): 75 to 79
- David Raum (LB, Hoffenheim): 73 to 78
- Florian Wirtz (CAM, Leverkusen): 78 to 83
- Hany Mukhtar (CAM, Nashville): 72 to 76
- Rafael Leao (LW, Milan): 77 to 82
- Aleksandar Mitrovic (ST, Fulham): 75 to 80
