Cody Rhodes, who is of course the son of the American Dream Dusty Rhodes, rarely shies away from controversy.

His role as the American Nightmare character is one that he has embellished and he often lives up to.

At the San Diego Comic-Con this year, he made a very interesting comment when it comes to the banned words in the WWE sphere.

He was being asked a question in which panellist Steve Ozer spoke of the “title belts” before quickly correcting himself, and saying “championship titles.”

Here is the Superstar’s response to this, as per WrestlingInc: “Buddy, you can say belts.

"If they fine me $1,000 every time I say belts, I’m fine with it. Belts. It can be a title belt, sure, it’s a championship. But it also physically goes around your waist. It’s a belt. So, those are great belts [in the new Mattel figures].”

In the same report from WrestlingInc, they claim that, as per Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer, there are 30 banned terms internally.

They are as follows: “Wrestling, Wrestlers, Belt, Blood, Choke, Diva, Strap, Mofos, Head Shot, Trauma, DQ, The Anti-Diva, Spinal Injuries, Victim, Violence/Violent, WWF, Wifebeater, Curb Stomp, Strangle, Kill, Murder, Kayfabe, House Show, Push, Being Over, Babyface, Heel, Job/Jobber, Card and Non-Title.”

Along with this comment, he regularly made mistakes on a Miz TV segment which were corrected at the time by The Miz.

He regularly said “wrestlers” instead of “Superstars” and “Championship Belts” instead of “Titles.”

Rhodes is currently injured and the chatter seems to point towards a return at Royal Rumble, which will take place in January, as it always does.

Here is what he had to say about this: “My Royal Rumble stats are top 10, they’re phenomenal. So if I was to come back at that event, there is a chance I could actually get up in the top five and I’m all about that …. You never know! We’ll see.”
