Paris Saint-Germain have announced the signing of versatile defender Nordi Mukiele from RB Leipzig.

On Tuesday afternoon, footage of the Frenchman leaving the club's medical headquarters emerged online.

And mere hours later, the French champions confirmed that Mukiele had indeed put pen to paper on a deal that will see him call the Parc des Princes home until 2027.

Mukiele, who is primarily a right-back but can do a stellar job at centre-back, is PSG's third signing of the summer.

Exciting midfielder Vitinha was brought in from FC Porto for a fee of around £37 million, while France U20 star Hugo Ekitike was signed on loan with an option to buy from Reims.

Overall, the business conducted by PSG over the course of the summer thus far has been pretty good and means they boast some seriously impressive squad depth going into the 2022/23 season.

Despite losing Angel Di Maria to Juventus on a free transfer, the Ligue 1 champions can currently field two top-quality XIs.

Don't believe us? Well, take a look at the evidence...

PSG's best XI

The XI: Gianluigi Donnarumma, Achraf Hakimi, Marquinhos, Presnel Kimpembe, Nuno Mendes, Danilo Pereira, Marco Verratti, Leandro Paredes, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Neymar

PSG's second XI

The XI: Keylor Navas, Nordi Mukiele, Thilo Kehrer, Sergio Ramos, Juan Bernat, Idrissa Gana Gueye, Ander Herrera, Vitinha, Pablo Sarabia, Hugo Ekitike, Mauro Icardi

Not bad, eh? PSG's second XI would probably win the Ligue 1 title if given the chance.

The fact Gini Wijnaldum, Julian Draxler, Abdou Diallo, Layvin Kurzawa and Rafinha don't feature in either XI is further evidence of how immense the squad depth available to Galtier is for his first season in charge.

A number of those players above could leave this summer, though, while the likes of Kimpembe and Paredes have also been linked with moves elsewhere.

Can PSG win the Champions League in 2022/23?

Given PSG's squad strength, regardless of departures, it's virtually a given that they will retain their Ligue 1 crown.

The big focus for Galtier and his men will be Champions League glory, particularly after they crashed out of the competition in such humiliating fashion against Real Madrid last season.

Now that Mbappe has pledged his future to the club, Ramos is back near full fitness, Messi's adaptation period looks close to completion and some fresh faces have been brought in, PSG really have no excuse on the European stage in 2022/23.
