Neymar is one of the most skilful players in the history of football.

The Brazilian legend has a plethora of tricks at his disposal and he shows that whenever he steps out onto the pitch.

However, not everyone has been impressed with Neymar's skills in the past.

Neymar has managed to rattle opponents by producing skills in the past.

He's even managed to annoy a handful of referees. In fact, back in 2020, Neymar was shown a yellow card after attempting an audacious skill.

On February 1, 2020, PSG welcomed Montpellier to the Parc des Princes for their Ligue 1 clash.

PSG went 1-0 up early through Pablo Sarabia. Montpellier were then reduced to 10-men shortly after when Dimitry Bertaud was dismissed for handling the ball outside his own area.

That's when Neymar decided to go full Joga Bonito. Referee Jerome Brisard had enough with the Brazilian just before half-time.

Neymar attempted a rainbow flick over an opponent's head in the 37th minute, which he wasn't quite able to pull off.

But that didn't stop Brisard going over to Neymar and warning him. After a brief altercation, Neymar was then shown a yellow card.

Neymar was fuming.

Cameras caught him continuing to vent his anger in the tunnel at half-time.

“I just play football and he gives me a yellow card!” He could be saying in footage captured by Canal+, per Goal.

Turning to Marco Verratti, he said: “Tell the referee that he can’t book me."

Brisard told him to “speak French”, only for Neymar to reply: “Speak French my a**!”

Neymar isn't the only player that has been booked for attempting a rainbow flick.

Neymar's Brazil teammate, Lucas Paqueta, was shown a yellow card last year for doing the same thing.

Neymar was angry after seeing the yellow card given to the Lyon star.

“This episode is very, very sad, receiving a yellow card for a dribble,” Neymar wrote on his Instagram story, per the Independent.

“The trick is a solution, no matter where it takes place and no matter what minute it is performed.

“The same thing happened to me last season. This year, it’s happened to Paqueta. Honestly, I don’t understand the reasons.

“The famous ‘Joga Bonito’ [beautiful game] is over. Enjoy while it lasts.”
