Triple H has been dealt a blow just days before his first Premium Live Event as Head of Creative, with one of his scheduled matches having to be cancelled. One of the matches that fans were most excited about on the SummerSlam card was the showdown between Seth Rollins and Riddle.Unfortunately, that match won't be happening anymore, with Riddle being forced to miss the show due to injury. The news was confirmed by WWE on The Bump this afternoon, with it being confirmed that Riddle had suffered a brachial plexus injury, otherwise referred to as a stinger.

Kayla Braxton said during the show that as a result of the injury, which Riddle sustained after being attacked by Rollins at the end of Raw this week, he'd lost a lot of weakness.

Braxton explained that until he regains full strength, WWE medical has disqualified Riddle from active competition.

As of right now, there's no word on whether or not the injury is legitimate, so it's unclear whether or not the former NXT star is really injured, or if this part of a storyline.

Riddle certainly isn't the only top WWE star who'll be forced to miss SummerSlam through injury, with Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes also on the sidelines.

Randy was actually supposed to challenge to challenge Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns at the show, but a serious back injury is set to keep him out of the ring until 2023.

As for Cody, there was no word on who he was planned to face at the show, but as one of WWE's top stars, you have to suspect that they'd have found something for him to do.

You can watch WWE SummerSlam on Saturday evening live in the US on Peacock and in all other international markets on the WWE Network.
