Arsenal 'admire' Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane but are facing a tough task as they look to tempt the reigning Bundesliga champions into sanctioning a move to the Emirates Stadium, according to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs.

The Gunners may have missed out on Champions League qualification by two points last season, but that has not stopped boss Mikel Arteta in his tracks during the transfer window.

What's the latest news involving Sane?

According to German newspaper Bild, via Spanish sources, Arsenal are one of several clubs chasing Sane ahead of the September 1 deadline.

The report suggests the Gunners will have to spend big if they want to secure the 45-cap Germany international's services as Bayern have set a £58.6million valuation.

Meeting that figure would result in Sane becoming the second most expensive signing in Arsenal's entire history.

While Fabrizio Romano has previously told GIVEMESPORT that he is expecting the 26-year-old to remain in Bavaria, the transfer guru has not ruled out the possibility of a move in the final weeks of the window.

Sane, who joined his current employers in a £54.8million deal from Manchester City in 2020, still has three years remaining on his £280,000-per-week contract at Bayern.

What has Ben Jacobs said about Sane?

Jacobs believes Arsenal's initial interest in Sane, who has previously been described as 'special', came before failing to lure Raphinha to the Emirates Stadium earlier this summer.

Although the journalist is aware that the Gunners are admirers of the wide-man, he feels it may be difficult to entice Bayern into doing a deal.

Jacobs told GIVEMESPORT: "The Sane links were prior to Raphinha and I think that Arsenal gathered quite quickly, when they turned their attention to Raphinha, that it's going to be tough to get Sane to move away from Bayern.

"I think Bayern's preference is still to try and keep Sane, so that one is going to be a challenge, but it's obvious they admire the player."

Would Sane want to join Arsenal?

Linking up with Arsenal would result in Sane returning to the Premier League, where he won silverware with Manchester City and racked up 57 goal involvements in the competition.

It would also result in the German sealing a reunion with Arteta, having worked with the now-Arsenal boss during his time as Pep Guardiola's assistant manager at the Etihad Stadium.

Sane is known to be a big fan of Arteta and previously credited the Spaniard for playing a key role in his development, so a big-money move to Arsenal may not be out of the question.
