WWE has cancelled Riddle v Seth Rollins for SummerSlam this weekend, and we now know the real reason why.

WWE announced on The Bump that Riddle was out with a brachial plexus injury, so the match will no longer take place.

However, Fightful Select is reporting that the injury isn't actually legitimate, and is actually just the next chapter in the storyline WWE is going with.

The report notes that there are plans to do the match later down the line, which should be exciting for fans of the two Raw stars.

We're told that the injury is kayfabe, and there are a plans to do the match down the line. Those we spoke to claim it was due to "creative adjustments."

As noted, the match was changed due to "creative adjustments", with WWE deciding to delay the match until Clash at the Castle.

Fightful does note that these plans may change, but as of right now, the plan seems to be for WWE to book the match at the big UK Premium Live Event on September 3.

We're told talent was informed Monday, and the working plan was to have the match take place at Clash at the Castle in September. However, with the ever-changing WWE landscape, it's quite possible that isn't final.

It's worth noting that it's unclear whether or not WWE is planning on having Seth wrestle another opponent at the show, but as of right now, he hasn't been announced for another match.

However, Fightful has explained that he is scheduled to be in Nashville for the show, so there's every chance the former WWE Champion does work a match.

Other than the reported "creative adjustments", there's no word on why WWE has decided to delay the match until September.

Triple H is now Head of Creative, and considering the news that talent found out the match had been delayed on Monday, fans have speculated that the decision was made by the former WWE Champion.

SummerSlam still promises to be a big show for WWE, with it being the first Premium Live Event since Vince McMahon's shock retirement.

You can watch WWE SummerSlam live on Saturday in the US on Peacock and in all other international markets on the WWE Network.
