Victory for Newcastle

Well, well, well.

Let's start with what's less surprising: the homes of Arsenal and West Ham continue to be maligned for their ambience at home, while Anfield and Elland Road are typically heralded for their rapturous supporters.

However, the list certainly isn't without its controversy because United fans will no doubt be having a meltdown about the fact the so-called 'Emptyhad' is considered to have a better atmosphere than Old Trafford.

It's also a little head-scratching that Brentford's new ground, while stunning, is said to have more get up and go than monuments of the English game like Anfield, Villa Park and Goodison Park.

But it's the Toon who take first place with their atmosphere at the cathedral-like St. James' Park having only gone through the roof since the widely-criticised Mike Ashley era finally came to a close.

If you're still unhappy with the results, though, and you just so happen to be passing through the turnstiles of one of these teams each week, then be sure to put some extra gusto into your chants and you might just see your ground rise up the ranks.

Then again, West Ham fans are sort of on a hiding to nothing at the Olympic Stadium...
