Harry Kane will go down as one of Tottenham's greatest ever players.

In fact, the argument could be made that he is the greatest player to ever pull on the lily white strip.

247 goals, complimented by 59 assists is an unbelievable return but, sadly, the fact that he is yet to win a major trophy will always haunt him.

Spurs have gone to great expense to break that trophy hoodoo while Kane has been around, spending millions on transfers and cycling through managers at a rather alarming rate.

However, each and every gaffer that has taken up the hot seat at the Tottenham Stadium has understood the importance of Kane to any hopes they may have.

Jose Mourinho in particular was quick to grasp Kane's standing in the team and made a point of getting him on side as early as he could in his tenure.

Footage from their first meeting, provided by behind the scenes documentary 'All or Nothing' is absolutely fascinating as Mourinho sat down with his star striker to start their relationship off on the right foot.

Check out the exchange in the video below:

“I believe that you have a very good relationship with Mauricio, I love that,” Mourinho told Kane. “I always think, good relationship with the previous manager. Why not me?

“I saw you training yesterday and I have no doubts that you are a leader. That is my feeling. The world looks to English football with an incredible respect but they still think that the movie stars of football belong to other places.

“We have to build also your status in that direction. My profile, I am little bit like that as a coach. My dimension is universal and by being with me I think I can help you to… [makes explosion gesture].

“What I don’t accept, because it is my nature, is to be here and win nothing. But I feel that we can because of you.

“You have better players than I had at Manchester United. The club has a lot [of potential] to explode.”

Superb. Mourinho's man management is often overlooked but, after his predecessor left in controversial circumstances, he knew how important it was to get key stars in his corner.

Targeting Kane was the obvious place to start and the two enjoyed a fruitful relationship during his time in charge.
