Everton will be looking to ‘scramble’ deals through as the final month of the transfer window approaches with Wolves midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White still on their radar, according to Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

Frank Lampard will be aiming to steer his side away from relegation trouble this season but the transfer window has not been plain sailing at Goodison Park either.

What is the latest transfer news from Everton?

Only two new faces have arrived on the blue half of Merseyside this summer in the form of James Tarkowski on a free transfer and Ruben Vinagre on loan.

Meanwhile, the Toffees have suffered the loss of Richarlison after Tottenham struck a £60 million deal to sign the Brazilian, leaving Lampard short of one of his heroes from last season. Dominic Calvert-Lewin also continues to be monitored by Newcastle United.

Last season saw Everton come perilously close to relegation and Lampard will be eager to strengthen significantly before kick-off in the 2022-23 campaign. With supporters planning protests against owner Farhad Moshiri, showing they are serious is essential.

As far as potential new signings are concerned, Burnley winger Dwight McNeil is closing in on a transfer to the club with discussions at an advanced stage.

Elsewhere, Gibbs-White has also been targeted after an impressive campaign on loan with Sheffield United in the Championship and Everton are in talks over the Wolves midfielder.

Last week a £25 million bid from the Toffees was rejected but they remain eager to sign the versatile midfielder.

What has Taylor said on Gibbs-White and Everton targets?

Taylor understands that while Gibbs-White remains high on the club’s agenda this summer other names are also being considered.

The journalist told GIVEMESPORT: “I do think there'll be an emphasis on scrambling some deals through. Gibbs-White is obviously one they still like. There is interest in others.”

Would Gibbs-White be a good signing for the club?

With Donny Van de Beek returning to Manchester United after his loan spell, Everton have a space available for a new midfielder.

Gibbs-White scored 13 goals and provided 10 assists as Sheffield United finished in the play-offs. He also showed he was capable of playing in a range of positions, including as a striker, which could benefit Everton following Richarlison’s sale.

He will not solve all of their problems immediately and, like Taylor says, the club will likely look to bring in a range of new faces in a bid to drag them up the Premier League table.
