Sergio Ramos might be one of the greatest defenders in modern football history, but that doesn't mean that he's immune to the odd humiliation.

Similarly to goalkeepers, it's an occupational hazard of a professional defender that you will be left with egg on your face by an attacker every now and again no matter how talented you might be.

For example, Jerome Boateng might be a Champions League and World Cup winner, but Lionel Messi was still able to turn him into a meme by folding him in half with that goal at Camp Nou.

Ramos taking on legends

By the same token, for every time that Ramos managed to pocket Messi in El Clasico clashes, he was humiliated by the Barcelona icon about five times over.

However, despite Ramos having a long and complicated history with Messi - as well as other world-class forwards - over the years, it seems as though it was actually another footballing icon who proved to be his kryptonite.

A few years before Ramos was facing a prime Messi hoovering up Ballon d'Or trophies like they were going out of fashion, he had to deal with a certain Thierry Henry.

And not only would some football fans argue that Henry could be just as much of a handful as Messi in his prime, but Ramos wasn't quite the fully-developed defending icon that he was in the mid-2010s when he faced off with the Arsenal legend.

As such, the stage was well and truly set for Henry to cause mayhem whenever he faced Ramos - then a right-back - in the 2000s, typically dashing in from the left and often tying him up in knots.

Henry making Ramos look like a little boy

So much so, in fact, that a video of all the times that Henry humiliated Ramos for Arsenal and Barcelona has gone viral this week.

Twitter user @MyGreatest11 posted a brilliant 90-second montage where Henry didn't just get the better of Ramos, but persistently did so in a style that made the future Real Madrid captain look like a little boy.

And trust us when we say that there are a lot worse ways to spend one and a half minutes than by basking in Henry's greatness, so be sure to watch the compilation in all its glory down below:

Goodness me. Ramos must still waking up from nightmares of Henry.

Henry running riot

While we've all seen the videos of Ramos getting folded like a deckchair by Messi over the years, there's something about the way in which he was so often man-handled by Henry that makes things even worse.

By the time you get to the point where Ramos seems to be attempting to intercept a pass to Henry with an acrobatic clearance, then you just knew that he was desperately failing in his efforts to thwarts the Frenchman.

And it certainly makes for humble watching when you consider that Ramos would go on to lift four Champions League trophies, captaining Los Blancos and scoring no less than 101 goals for them from defence.

When it came to facing Henry, though, he was made to look distinctly ordinary.
