Muhammad Ali's reaction to a man doing an impression of himself is the most wholesome thing you'll see today.

Carroll Sample, 61, was working at a local restaurant in Richmond in 1993 when he heard 'The Greatest' was going to be in town and would be stopping by at a cathedral nearby.

Sample, a former amateur boxing champion, could barely contain his emotions.

So he did what anyone else in his position would have done; he stopped what he was doing and went to meet the man himself, but not before picking up his children on the way home from school.

He told the Richmond Free Press in 2016: “I went home and told my kids.

“Then I called a man at the church. I told him my kids were crying because they wanted to see Ali.

“I got so excited. I told him I used to be a boxer."

Then he recited, in his best Ali imitation, the rhyme Ali said before his 'Fight of the Century' against Joe Frazier in 1971.

And now a video has resurfaced of that exact moment the two met face to face for the first time all those years ago.

Twitter user Le Traqueur - which literally translates to 'The Rundown' - posted a clip of the wholesome interaction on social media.

In the clip, he can be heard saying: "Mr Muhammad Ali, how you doing? My name's Carroll Sample, I'm a former boxer in Richmond, and I've been watching you fight for ever since I was a little bitty boy.

"And I can do impressions on you real good."

Before continuing, “Joe’s going to come out smokin' [sic].

"And I ain’t gonna be jokin’ [sic].

"I’ll be pecking and a-pokin’ [sic].

"Pouring water on his smokin' [sic].

"This may shock and amaze you

"But I will destroy Joe Frazier.”

As the man started speaking, Ali's face immediately lit up as he began to throw some pawing jabs in return.
