Manchester United "don't want to sell" forward Anthony Martial this summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The £250,000 per-week star has enjoyed a pre-season revival under new manager Erik ten Hag, which looks set to earn him a place in the starting XI against Brighton next weekend.

What's the latest news involving Martial?

Having fallen out of favour under both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick, the Frenchman spent the second half of last season on loan at Sevilla and looked to have played his last game for United.

But with Edinson Cavani released, and uncertainty over Cristiano Ronaldo's future, Martial has quickly proved a saviour for Ten Hag in pre-season.

The 26-year-old has started each of United's four friendlies, scoring three times, including against fellow Premier League sides Liverpool and Aston Villa.

Despite his turnaround, Martial is attracting attention from Juventus, who will target a move for the attacker should they miss out on signing ex-Chelsea star Alvaro Morata.

But with Martial in the driving seat to lead the line for United ahead of the new campaign, Jones has completely ruled out a move to the Serie A giants because they "can't afford to sell him".

What did Jones say about Martial?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "There's no chance of him going to Juventus at the moment. United just don't want to sell him, they can't afford to, and he's been a big part of pre-season."

Will Martial start against Brighton?

Pre-season isn't always a fair measure of how close you are to starting when the season gets underway properly, but in Martial's case, his form should be enough to secure the number nine spot when Brighton travel to Old Trafford.

Ronaldo is United's only other genuine option through the middle, and not only does the legendary striker want to leave the club to continue playing in the Champions League, but he's yet to play a single minute in pre-season, which means there's obvious question marks over his fitness.

Given everything he's achieved in football, and how generally well he looks after himself, the Portugal captain starting the game can't be totally ruled out, but Martial would consider himself extremely unfortunate to not get the nod from Ten Hag.
