The Toronto Raptors declared on Thursday that Juancho Hernangomez has formally signed his one-year contract, following news that the two parties had reached an agreement in free agency on July 26.

Hernangomez, 26, has been playing in the NBA since 2016. He has moved around a lot from team to team, never really managing to secure a spot on a roster.

Hernangomez began his career with the Denver Nuggets after Denver selected him with the 15th overall choice in the 2016 NBA Draft.

During the 2019–20 season, he was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves. After Minnesota's 2020–21 season, he was transferred once more to the Memphis Grizzlies before being dealt again the following offseason to the Boston Celtics.

After spending the first 18 games of the 2021–22 season with the Celtics, Juan Hernangomez was traded to the San Antonio Spurs, where he appeared in 5 games, and later to the Utah Jazz, where he appeared in 17 games. Hernangomez was released by the Jazz on June 30 in advance of the start of free agency.

Hernangomez is not only a star in the NBA; he is also well-known for his work on the big screen. Most recently, he played one of the lead roles in the Netflix film Hustle, which also features Adam Sandler, Queen Latifah, and other NBA players, together with LeBron James.

Many people were eager to congratulate Hernangomez on his new contract with Toronto, referencing lines from the film and referring to him as "Bo" on social media. He is now well-known for his role as "Bo Cruz" in the movie. Even Anthony Edwards, who co-starred with Juan Hernangomez in the movie, praised Juan Hernangomez and called him "Bo Cruz."

Hernangomez is getting ready for his seventh NBA season with his sixth different team—seventh if you include his brief offseason stay with the Grizzlies—and he'll be hoping to show that he can be an important contributor for the Raptors off the bench.

Juancho Hernangomez averaged 3.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 41.5% shooting from the field over the course of 40 games last season between the Celtics, Spurs, and Jazz. He also played an average of 11.1 minutes per game. In a total of 17 games, 9 of which he started, he averaged 6.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 50.7% shooting while playing the most minutes in Utah, as per Eurohoops.
