West Ham United are still vying to sign Amadou Onana and the deal is 'very much alive' after a 'really substantial bid' was lodged by the London Stadium outfit, according to Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

The Hammers are preparing for another season of continental football, after last term's seventh place finish was enough to secure Europa Conference League qualification, and boss David Moyes has set his sights on adding Onana to his squad.

What's the latest news involving Onana?

West Ham have potentially been boosted in their pursuit of Onana as Daily Star journalist Paul Brown has previously told GIVEMESPORT that he believes the Lille star wants to move to east London.

The Hammers are not giving up hope of landing the defensive midfielder as they have tabled a third bid worth £32.3million, plus add-ons.

West Ham failed with an opening gambit of £19.5million, which resulted in Lille insisting at the time that they were unwilling to sanction Onana's departure.

A second proposal worth £25.5million was also pushed back by the Ligue 1 side, underlining their determination to hold onto their prised asset.

But Moyes is refusing to take no for an answer and remains interested in the one-cap Belgium international, who made 41 appearances for Lille last season.

What has Ryan Taylor said about Onana?

Taylor understands that West Ham are still chasing Onana and the club are waiting to discover whether their third offer will be enough to seal the deal.

The journalist believes there is still a distinct possibility that the Hammers could land the 20-year-old ahead of the September 1 transfer deadline.

When asked whether West Ham are still pursuing Onana, Taylor told GIVEMESPORT: "100%. I think that bid's still on the table but, with some of these stories, you think it doesn't seem to add up. We get a bit lost because they have not heard of any response to that offer.

"But it's a really substantial bid, so I do think that deal is still very much alive. As far as I'm aware, that bid hasn't been accepted or rejected at the moment."

Who have West Ham signed so far?

Nayef Aguerd became the first arrival of the summer when he completed a £30million switch from French side Rennes, but he has already been forced onto the sidelines after undergoing ankle surgery.

Alphonse Areola will provide competition for Lukasz Fabianski after the goalkeeper's loan move from Paris Saint-Germain was made permanent thanks to West Ham taking advantage of a £7.75million option written into the initial agreement.

While the Hammers are still chasing Onana, Moyes has already bolstered his central midfield with the £12million acquisition of Flynn Downes from Swansea City.

Gianluca Scamacca is West Ham's most recent big-money arrival, having joined from Italian outfit Sassuolo.
