Tottenham will be "keeping tabs" on Wolves star Adama Traore, according to journalist Pete O'Rourke.

The north London outfit are long-term admirers of the £18m-rated speedster and are once again being linked with his services despite recently bringing in Djed Spence.

What's the latest news involving Traore?

Spurs' interest in the flying winger, who was once described as 'unplayable' by Jurgen Klopp, first emerged on deadline day last summer when Nuno Espirito Santo was manager.

According to The Telegraph, Tottenham saw a £5m loan bid rejected for Traore, with Wolves not willing to sell the wide man on the final day of the window.

Despite Nuno's departure in October, the Champions League outfit remained keen when the January window came around and Spurs finally looked to have got their man.

According to Sky Sports, Antonio Conte's side were 'closing in' on a deal for Traore, who was set to solve the Italian's right wing-back conundrum, following the troubles of Matt Doherty and Emerson Royal.

But just When Tottenham looked to be in the clear, Barcelona, Traore's boyhood club, pipped them right at the very last, with the Spaniard securing a loan move to the Nou Camp.

Some six months later, though, 90min believe they remain interested in a deal for the 26-year-old, who's entered the final 12 months of his £46,000 per-week Molineux contract and could leave before the deadline.

What did O'Rourke say about Traore?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "I'm sure Spurs will be keeping tabs on that situation, as they have done since last summer, so never say never if he is available for a cut price fee, but they have gone and signed Spence, so maybe it's not a priority right now that right wing-back role."

Do Tottenham need Traore?

Despite the reports, it doesn't make much sense for Tottenham to pursue a deal for Traore anymore.

Since their failed January bid, they've not only brought in Spence, but Doherty has shown signs that he could be the answer, while Royal has also improved, meaning they have plenty of options at right wing-back.

Having played there for the majority of his career, signing Traore with a view to play him further forward is also a possibility, but Spurs aren't exactly short in those areas either, with Lucas Moura, Heung-Min Son, Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski already vying for just two positions.

Therefore, while Conte will still be hoping to complete further business, bringing in Traore is one he might want to avoid.
