Chelsea transfer target Benjamin Pavard would be eager to leave Bayern Munich for the Blues this summer, according to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook.
Thomas Tuchel is currently preparing his squad for the 2022-23 campaign but with over a month remaining of the transfer window, there is still plenty that could change at Stamford Bridge.
What is the latest news from Chelsea?
It has been a frustrating summer for the Blues so far, with just two new arrivals making their way to west London in the form of Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly.
But they are struggling to strengthen their weakest area. After Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen both departed, Chelsea have been left short of defenders.
Koulibaly has helped that situation slightly but with Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta also eager to leave for Barcelona, it is a situation that could worsen before it gets better.
The La Liga giants have also seemingly beaten Chelsea to the signing of Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde after a £43 million fee was agreed this week.
Pavard has emerged as a reported target for Chelsea, with the Frenchman out of favour at Bayern Munich. The German giants are still aiming to receive £30 million for his services, however.
What has Crook said on Pavard?
Crook understands that Chelsea have indeed started to look at the 2018 World Cup winner with a potential approach in mind.
The talkSPORT reporter also believes that it is a move the 26-year-old would jump at if he was offered the chance.
Crook told GIVEMESPORT: “The other name that’s been mentioned is Benjamin Pavard who I think probably would be keen to make a move.”
Would Pavard be a good signing for Chelsea?
With the club having no luck regarding approaches for Kounde or Presnel Kimpembe, any defensive signing would be a good one for Chelsea right now.
But Pavard would represent a clever signing from Todd Boehly, with the Frenchman capable of playing at both right-back and centre-back. It arguably makes him the ideal replacement for Cesar Azpilicueta, who played across both roles in his decade with Chelsea.
At 26 he has plenty of time to improve moving forward and having already won a World Cup, three Bundesliga titles and a Champions League, he will arrive with a winning attitude that is always respected at Stamford Bridge.
He is currently on a wage of £115,000 per week with Bayern, something that the Blues will have to consider if they were to make an offer.
