Football Manager 2023 is one of the most anticipated games of the year and is likely to release later this year.

The game has not yet been formally announced but the series has forever followed an annual release schedule.

As a result, we’re expecting FM23 to release later this year, likely in November, and it’s a safe bet that it will be a major success, after FM22 sold over a million copies.

As a result, we’ve taken a look at five of the best short-term saves you could take on when the game releases.

FM offers a variety of challenges for all players and most like to take on long-term saves, with players looking to build a dynasty at their chosen club, or work their way up from non-league to the top tier.

But there’s also some fun to be had when you spend a season or two at a club and move on.

Here are five of the best short-term challenges in FM23.

Newcastle United

They’ll have plenty of cash to splash, especially after they received a £200m budget in FM22, and it feels like a pretty straightforward challenge for you to take on.

Take the job, spend the money, and turn them into Premier League champions. If you want to extend it, add in a Champions League win.

We’d expect top managers to be able to turn Newcastle into champions within three or four seasons.

Manchester City

Win the Champions League.

Pep Guardiola hasn’t been able to do it yet, but they’ve recruited Erling Haaland to give them the firepower to win the tournament.

Can you make it happen? This one could genuinely be a one-season save.

Barcelona

Much like City, get Barca back on top in Europe, and try to overhaul Real Madrid.

They have been spending money this summer and have brought in the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha.

Can you win La Liga and the Champions League? Again, you could do this in a season.

PSG

The main objective for top clubs is to win that Champions League trophy.

Much like City, PSG have invested heavily in a bid to win the tournament but have never been able to get the job done.

That’s your challenge. We’d expect you to win Ligue 1 comfortably but can you win Europe’s top prize?

Crystal Palace

Palace's popular 2022/23 home kit.

Something a little bit different here. Palace have never won a trophy. Ever. Your challenge is to change that.

We’d consider this save a success if you win either the Carabao Cup or the FA Cup. Given that a favourable draw could get you through to the final, this could happen within three seasons, especially if you add a few quality players to the squad.

Do it and you’ll be a Palace legend forever.
