Usain Bolt: Incredibly wholesome footage of superstar interacting with volunteers

There are few bigger names in the world of sport than Usain Bolt.

The Jamaican sprinter, who currently holds the title of the fastest man in history, took over the globe as he dominated the track from 2008 to 2016.

Gold medals flowed like honey into his hands as Bolt revolutionised the world of athletics, crafting himself into a bona-fide superstar that transcended not only his field, but sport itself.

He would plunder eight Olympic gold medals before calling time on his career, while setting countless other records, clinching numerous other individual prizes, and running in some of the greatest races ever.

He quickly became one of the most famous men on the planet but it never truly seemed to go to his head.

While, of course, Bolt did posses an unerring level of self-confidence, he never let his success tear him away from what made him so popular in the first place; his one-of-a-kind person-ability.

Bolt’s incredible on-track exploits certainly played a part in seeing his star rise, but it was the way he approached some of the most high-pressure situations in the world that really captured imaginations.

He was laid-back, always casual and always seemed like he had all the time in the world before races.

Bolt would play to the crowd, gesture to coaches and teammates or whip out his now famed lightning bolt stance. In short, every one in the world felt like Usain was their mate.

One of the best things about him, though, was the way he would interact with the volunteers at the events in which he made his name.

An athlete choosing not to interact with a volunteer before the biggest race of their lives is not wrong in the slightest, but Bolt would often go out of his way to make a volunteer’s day.

In fact, footage of just how good the Jamaican was at doing just that has been going around on Twitter and it makes for truly wholesome viewing.

In the footage, Bolt can be seen giving a number of different volunteers a high-five or a fist-bump, leaving them with the biggest smiles on their faces.

You can check it out in the clip below:

Brilliant – it’s hard not to smile when you see some of the ways those faces light up.

The crazy part is that Bolt would then immediately turn around and put in some of the most historic athletic performances in human history.

You can only imagine what it must have been like to be one of those lucky volunteers.
