Nicholas Latifi went fastest of all in the final practice session at the Hungarian Grand Prix, with the Canadian navigating the tricky conditions to send his Williams top of the time sheets.

The Hungaroring was a skating rink at the beginning of the session, thanks to heavy rain, but things eased up as the hour of practice wore on, and the drying track meant that lap times were getting faster and faster as we approached the chequered flag.

Indeed, Latifi was one of the last over the line and he hooked up a tidy lap, meaning he'd take the fastest time in FP3, underlining how the variable conditions at the Hungaroring can mix up the running order.

The heavens have certainly opened here in Hungary, with torrential rain hitting just before the final practice session of the weekend, whilst there were also some lighter showers during the hour too.

Despite the obvious risk of causing damage to the cars just before qualifying, the track was a hive of activity with the drivers evidently eager to try and get themselves as much experience of the conditions ahead of qualifying, which is also likely to be wet later this afternoon.

It was Latifi who navigated them best of all, though, with the track actually beginning to dry by the end of the session, whilst Charles Leclerc in the Ferrari was second fastest and Alex Albon was third quickest in the other Williams.

The men from Grove would certainly take that later on this afternoon, but we'll just have to see what the elements have in store for the 20 drivers.

Behind the top three, Max Verstappen was fourth fastest in the Red Bull, whilst George Russell would go P5 as his team-mate Lewis Hamilton finished outside of the top ten.

Fernando Alonso was sixth in the Alpine ahead of the other Ferrari of Carlos Sainz, whilst Lando Norris showed the McLaren's pace is good both in the dry and wet here in Hungary, by going P8.

Sebastian Vettel was ninth quickest, though he caused a red flag by sliding into the barriers and it remains to be seen what damage has been done to his Aston Martin, whilst Kevin Magnussen sits in 10th place.

Ultimately, though, this session was one that showed we could be in for a classic qualifying, and pretty much anything could happen if we get more rain.

Quali starts at 3pm UK time.
