It goes without saying that competing in MMA comes with a lot of risk. Over the years, we’ve seen some brutal knockouts, punches, kicks and submissions which result in insane injuries. Chris Weidman had his leg fold during a bout with Uriah Hall when he went for a kick, Jon Jones dislocated his toe during a fight with Chael Sonnen and Alistair Overeem had a completely shifted lip after a savage right hand from Jairzinho Rozenstruik.Of course, we can't forget the brutal leg breaks to Conor McGregor and Anderson Silva either. MMA is scary and the injuries that come from fights can be horrifying. It’s not uncommon for scary injuries to happen and we saw another one over the weekend at Urijah Faber’s A1 Combat 4 event. It took place in a fight between Blake Perry and Marcel McCain. The bout was Perry’s second ever fight and it unfortunately ended in gruesome fashion for him.

McCann had Perry in a Thai clinch and could tell his opponent was in danger. He piled the pressure by unleashing a stiff knee which landed flush on his opponent's nose.

You could see the way Perry’s head was angled down and propelled towards the knee which heightened the blow.

Watch the brutal knee to the face for yourself below.

Ouch. That is a break right on impact. Horrific stuff!

As soon as there was separation and you could see Perry’s face, it was immediately clear that his nose had bent and changed position. But, to the surprise of many, he continued to stride forward and keep fighting.

It wasn’t long before a stoppage ended the fight, however, but the injured man fighting on showed immense heart and bravery, something you simply have to have if you're going to step foot inside a cage.

Perry himself has shared a clip of his nose following the blow on his Instagram story, but there hasn’t yet been an update on his condition as of writing this article.

Unsurprisingly, the reaction online has been full discussion and shock over the injury. Some have even dubbed it a ‘croissant noise’ as many are calling it the worst nose break in MMA ever seen.

The injury stoppage took Blake’s record to 1-1 and he’ll undoubtedly be back as soon as he physically can.

For now, though, it's time to rest up and get that nose fixed.
