Game Week 1 Fixtures

Pep Guardiola and David Moyes

Here are the fixtures that are to be played in Game Week 1.

  • Crystal Palace v Arsenal
  • Fulham v Liverpool
  • Leeds v Wolves
  • Leicester v Brentford
  • Newcastle v Nottingham Forest
  • Tottenham v Southampton
  • Everton v Chelsea
  • Manchester United v Brighton
  • West Ham v Manchester City

Looking at these fixtures, there are certainly a couple of clubs that you should be having a close look at players-wise.

Liverpool take on a newly promoted Fulham side, coming off the back of a fantastic victory in the Community Shield 2022 against Manchester City - so definitely look to get a few of their players in.

Chelsea take on an Everton side that has endured a really poor pre-season and haven't recruited well thus far in the summer. Frank Lampard's defence looks seriously weak, so a few Chelsea attackers wouldn't go amiss.

We'd suggest steering clear from Leicester City vs Brentford - both clubs have been quiet in the window and we're not sure how they'll kick things off this season.

Game Week 1 isn't just important for the opening game of the season, as from this point on transfers cost you - unless you only make two a week. So you need to choose your first starting XI wisely. Here are a few of our top picks below.

Our top picks for FPL Game Week 1

Luis Diaz

  • Position: Midfielder
  • Club: Liverpool
  • Price: £8 Million
  • GW1 Opponent: Fulham (A)

A player that was late to the FPL party last year - but certainly made a hell of an impact when he came into things.

With the departure of Sadio Mane - a lot rests on the shoulders of Luis Diaz now, but he's proven he's a good enough player to fill those boots. He'll be starting weekly for Liverpool and will surely rack up lots of goals and assists.

£8 million is a fantastic price for Diaz, who also comes as a midfielder - meaning you can keep your striker spot open for other top forwards who will bang in the goals.

To add to this, he also plays newly-promoted Fulham in GW1 - where he has a great chance of tearing it up at Craven Cottage.

Kai Havertz

  • Position: Forward
  • Club: Chelsea
  • Price: £8 Million
  • GW1 Opponent: Everton (A)

A player that is going to have to step up this season for sure - Kai Havertz.

The departure of Romelu Lukaku means there's a huge void in the Chelsea attack that needs filling - which is why Havertz is a great choice at the beginning of the campaign.

His price is cheap for an attacker and if he starts scoring goals - this will only rise. He'll be playing a much more attacking role this year and has had a few seasons to adapt to the Premier League now, so we're expecting big things.

He also plays Everton on match day one - who leaked goals for fun last campaign.

Ivan Perisic

  • Position: Defender
  • Club: Tottenham Hotspur
  • Price: £5.5 Million
  • GW1 Opponent: Southampton (H)

Next, we have a Premier League new boy – Croatian veteran Ivan Perisic.

Antonio Conte secured his signature from Inter Milan on a free at the beginning of the window after he enjoyed a great campaign with the Italian giants.

The reason why Perisic is included in our GW1 tips is the fact that he is listed as a defender in Fantasy Premier League, but we aren’t sure where he’ll lineup for Spurs.

This means that over the course of the campaign Perisic will accumulate points for clean sheets and has the capability of playing a more forward role where he’ll obtain goals and assists. At the price of a measly £5.5 million – you should definitely have him in your squad from the get-go.

Gabriel Jesus

  • Position: Forward
  • Club: Arsenal
  • Price: £8 Million
  • GW1 Opponent: Crystal Palace (A)

A must-have for a lot of sides - selected by a staggering 70.4% of managers, Arsenal's new striker - Gabriel Jesus.

The ex-Manchester City man has been electric for the Gunners in pre-season and will no doubt have a tremendous season in his new red colours. He is simply a steal at £8 million and not much more needs to be said. Get him in your squad now.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

  • Position: Defender
  • Club: Liverpool
  • Price: £7.5 Million
  • GW1 Opponent: Fulham (A)

Another must-have in our eyes - is Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The sheer amount of assists that this guy racks up is enough to justify his spot in your side, combined with the fact he's also eligible for clean sheet points - which at Liverpool comes in abundance.

He's on the slightly more expensive side for a defender, but his accumulation of points throughout the season will more than makeup for this.
