Manchester United are monitoring RB Leipzig striker Dominik Szoboszlai alongside Red Bull Salzburg’s Benjamin Sesko as they look to bolster their attack, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Erik ten Hag is nearing the end of his first pre-season as manager at Old Trafford but there could still be business to be done before the September 1 deadline.

What is the latest United transfer news?

Three new faces have been added to the first team this summer in the form of Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia and Christian Eriksen. But adding attacking reinforcements now appears to be the priority.

The club were looking to reunite Ten Hag with Ajax striker Antony this summer but the Dutch champions recently upped their asking price to £84 million, effectively killing any possibility of a deal.

Alternatives have had to be sought out now. Salzburg frontman Sesko has been strongly linked with the Red Devils with the Austrians currently demanding over £45 million for his signature.

The 6ft 4in striker is only 19-years-old and scored 10 goals in hist first season despite predominantly playing as a substitute.

However, another young striker is also part of the conversation at Old Trafford this summer.

What has Jones said about a move for Szoboszlai?

Jones understands that the 20-year-old remains on the United watch list this summer as they look for reinforcements in attack.

While the transfer insider says a move for Szoboszlai this summer is unlikely, he says that it is a name to keep an eye on moving forward.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “They've also had interest in another Red Bull player in Szoboszlai and I know he's a player that is still on their watch list. I don't necessarily think that you would get Szoboszlai right now. But if that's the sort of role you're looking for, then it's probably worth remembering that Sesko is not the only player that they're looking at as a backup.”

Could United sign Szoboszlai this summer?

Despite only signing the Hungarian 18 months ago, it is not totally out of the question that the player previously described as a "modern-day David Beckham" could be snapped up this summer.

According to German publication Bild, via Metro, Szoboszlai has a £51 million release clause in his Leipzig contract, potentially offering United an opportunity.

Nevertheless, it is a large fee to pay for a player still finding his feet in the Bundesliga. Last season he scored just six top flight goals in 31 matches.

While that is no mean feat, it may not warrant a transfer of over £50 million just yet.
