Pit stop faults are another new element in F1 2022 that makes races more unpredictable and was first seen in the gameplay footage published in May.

Senior Creative Director Lee Mather describes how pit stop mistakes will function in F1 22 in the new deep dive video.

We were all informed earlier about the new manual pit stops that came with the F1 22 update. Players must turn in for optional manual pitstops precisely at that point, and the distance they turn from the pit will affect the length of the pit stop.

As seen in the gameplay features video, the game includes both manual pit stops and faulty pit stops.

How pit stop errors work in F1 22

Making manual pit stops is possible for players in the new Immersive mode. Players will have to manually turn into the pit stop in Immersive mode and timing it just so.

Pit crew mistakes might result from turning in at the incorrect time. Pit stop errors can cost the race, just as they would in real life.

Wheels might become caught while changing tires, or the pit crew may struggle to take out a wing, as Mather describes, adding valuable time to the pit stop.

The skills of your team will increase as a result of spending money on incentives for your pit crew in My Team or the driver Career mode, decreasing the likelihood of mistakes being made during a pit stop.

The new Broadcast option is also available to those who prefer a more relaxed or cinematic experience. Despite the removal of manual turn-ins, the whole pit stop may still be seen without being skipped.

Codemasters had to recreate the motion capturing of pit crews due to the bigger wheels and tires used in the new Formula 1 season rules for 2022.

All of this is done in an effort by Codemasters to provide the most authentic pit stops in any racing game.
