West Ham would still love to sign Chelsea striker Armando Broja despite the arrival of Gianluca Scamacca, according to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook.

The Italian became David Moyes' fourth summer signing, but Crook has suggested that the Scot could still be in the market for another striker.

According to the Guardian, the Hammers launched a £30m bid for the Albania international last month, although they don't appear to have received a response from Chelsea, who have insisted that Broja is not for sale.

During the club's recent tour of the US, Thomas Tuchel said: "Armando is our player first of all and we have, at the moment, no interest in selling him. He is here to make an impression after he was on loan at Southampton."

West Ham have been keen on signing Broja long before they secured the services of Scamacca, with some of the club's players impressed with the youngster when he was on loan at Southampton last season.

Broja, who scored once and assisted another in two eye-catching performances against the east London outfit, was wanted by Moyes in January.

And Crook reckons that Scamacca's arrival won't stop the club from trying to convince Broja to make the switch across the capital.

He told GIVEMESPORT: "I don't think the bid was ever formally rejected, Chelsea just ignored it, but I still think West Ham would love to sign him if he became available, although at the moment I don't think that's likely."

Even with Scamacca and Michail Antonio essentially fighting for just one starting place at the top end of the pitch, West Ham are still just one injury away from being back to square one.

Therefore, bringing in Broja might solve that problem by not only adding extra competition to the squad, but it would allow the Hammers to have every chance of staying competitive on all fronts, oppose to last season when they prioritised the Europa League and saw their league form suffer as a result, culminating in a sixth place finish.
