Football Manager 2023 is coming soon.

The franchise has consistently followed an annual release schedule and is poised to be released later this year, likely in November.

The game usually comes out in the penultimate month of the year, with the beta coming out two weeks prior.

Of course, one of the best leagues in the world is the Premier League and it’s also one of the most popular places to begin your first save.

As a result, we’ve taken a look at five of the best saves you can take on in the English top-flight.

Just to say, we’ve avoided including Manchester City and Liverpool here – their objectives are to win the Premier League and the Champions League, and they’re good enough to win both tournaments within the first two seasons.

Aston Villa

A really interesting challenge, this one.

Steven Gerrard has taken over at Villa and they’ve done some excellent business this summer, signing Philippe Coutinho permanently and also adding the likes of defender Diego Carlos and defensive midfielder Boubacar Kamara.

They finished 14th last season but some performances hinted at a much improved 2022/23 campaign. Can you guide them into Europe and right the one wrong of Gerrard’s career; that he never won the Premier League?

They’ve got money to spend and a squad packed with talent.

Everton

Last season was a disaster.

They finished 16th and flirted with relegation throughout the campaign, only staying up thanks to a late rally inspired by the Goodison Park faithful.

They have since raided Burnley for both James Tarkowski and Dwight McNeil but they really don’t have a great deal of money and have seen their star player, Richarlison, to Tottenham Hotspur.

Can you steady the ship and help them climb back up the table?

Leicester City

This doesn’t seem like a challenge on paper but when you dig into what’s happening at the King Power Stadium, it really does feel like a big ask to maintain their form.

Leicester finished eighth last season but they haven’t signed a single player yet this summer, the only club in Europe yet to do so.

James Maddison has also been linked with a huge exit, with both Newcastle and Spurs tracking the attacking midfielder, as has Wesley Fofana, with Chelsea said to be interested.

That could swell the coffers but would also leave the Foxes desperately short of quality. Can you take them back to the top of the Premier League?

AFC Bournemouth

The omens really don’t look good for Scott Parker’s side.

They were promoted from the Championship last season and have, thus far, signed just three players: Ryan Fredericks, Marcus Tavernier and Joe Rothwell.

Parker has admitted that they need more, particularly in central defence, and has also claimed that his side are not ready for the Premier League.

It’s a major ask to keep them in the top-flight and eventually start climbing the table; are you the person to do it?

Arsenal

Probably the easiest save on this list but the Gunners have a young squad with a really interesting blend of attributes.

Mikel Arteta has been trying to institute his Pep Guardiola-inspired philosophy but the Gunners are quite a way off the top two.

Can you turn them into champions for the first time since 2004?
