West Ham United will need to pay a bit more to complete the transfer of Eintracht Frankfurt wing-back Filip Kostic this summer, according to talkSPORT report Alex Crook.

David Moyes is preparing his side for the 2022-23 season but with the transfer deadline not until September 1, there is still plenty of time to complete more deals.

What has West Ham’s window looked like so far?

It is fair to say that the Hammers’ transfer window has been a success as things stand. They have clung onto prized assets Declan Rice and Jarrod Bowen while adding some impressive new faces.

Four new signings have arrived at the London Stadium in the form of Alphonse Areola, Flynn Downes, Nayef Aguerd and Gianluca Scamacca, taking their total spend to just over £80 million.

But the Hammers are showing no signs of stopping there. 29-year-old Frankfurt ace Kostic has become a top target for the club as we enter the final weeks of the window.

Kostic played a part in knocking West Ham out of the Europa League last season before beating Rangers in the final in Seville.

The east Londoners saw their opening bid of £12.5 million rejected, with the Bundesliga side demanding £16 million, with just one year remaining on Kostic’s contract.

What has Crook said on the chase for the Serbian?

Crook understands that Frankfurt are willing to let Kostic leave the club this summer if their valuation is met.

However, the reporter says that the player himself will take some persuading to swap Champions League football this year for the Europa Conference League with West Ham.

Crook told GIVEMESPORT: “I think that the feeling in Germany is if he wants to go then Frankfurt won’t stand in his way. I think they want a bit more than West Ham’s initial offer but it’s not 100% guaranteed that he does want to go because obviously Frankfurt are in the Champions League and it would mean sacrificing that to drop into the Conference League.”

What happens next for West Ham?

As things stand, it appears unlikely that the Hammers will complete a deal for Kostic this summer.

The player himself appears to have no interest in making the move to the London Stadium having become a crucial part of how Frankfurt play.

In three years he has found the net 33 times for the club, not a bad record for a wing-back, and it is difficult to see him giving up the prospect of playing the in the Champions League so easily.
