Yaya Toure somehow goes down as one of the greatest, but also most underappreciated midfielders ever.A four-time African Footballer of the Year, three-time Premier League winner and one of the greatest box-to-box midfielders of modern times, Toure absolutely lit it up for some of the best clubs in Europe throughout his career.Despite winning just about all there was to win at Barcelona, the Ivorian never quite convinced Pep Guardiola and moved to Manchester City in 2010.

Toure at Manchester City

It was there where he blossomed, gracing the Premier League with sheer excellence over an impeccable eight-year stay.

Toure was the first real big name star that City added to their team following their takeover, just coming into the peak of his powers. And boy did it show with his performances.

Blessed with an endless creativity to his play and a footballing IQ that midfielders would dream of possessing, he combined such qualities with equally as exceptional physical traits and the ability to prove effective in either half of the pitch.

It didn't take long for the Ivorian to endear himself to City fans with his instrumental goals in the semi-final and final of the 2011 FA Cup, winning them their first major honour of the new era.

Just a year later, he was strutting stuff again as the Cityzens clinched their first ever Premier League title, and he would become one of the pillars of a new era, including a monstrous 2013/14 campaign that saw him bag 24 goals and 12 assists in all competitions.

Somehow, he didn't clinch the PFA Player of the Year award for his performances that season; a decision which still baffles today. That honour instead went to Luis Suarez who, in fairness, also enjoyed a spectacular season. But Toure's efforts from midfield not being recognised felt wrong, truthfully.

His career at City wound down following Guardiola's arrival and a disagreement over birthday cake, but Toure remained effective as ever as the experienced head in the squad up until 2018.

Hindsight is always a wonderful thing, but we don't need that to know that Toure was an absolute baller during his peak years. So much so that a compilation has surfaced on Twitter and absolutely blown up among football fans, amassing over 10,000 retweets at the time of writing.

Watching it makes it very obvious why the highlights reel has gone so viral. The two minute package of Toure strutting his stuff is absolutely sublime. Do yourself a favour and check it out below.

What a joke of a player in his prime. Toure really had the beating of just about anyone.

Twists, turns, tackles, a threaded pass through the lines or even a worldie of a goal, he could really do it all. And it shows in the compilation. We'll never forget how easy he made the game look, and neither will the fans who watched along. Let's check out how they reacted.

Truly magnificent. For all the talk about Sergio Aguero, David Silva and Vincent Kompany being the three City legends that shot to prominence in their new era, Toure goes under the radar far too often.

He injected a genuine sense of world beater ability into City's growing side and allowed them to rely on him no matter how big the occasion was.

Toure has recently agreed to become an academy coach at Antonio Conte's Tottenham. Their young midfielders now have the opportunity to learn from one of the very best in the game.
