A clip from Arsenal’s new ‘All or Nothing’ documentary showing club photographer Stuart MacFarlane giving a spine-tingling speech before a north London derby against Tottenham last season is going viral on social media.
But under-fire manager Mikel Arteta managed to avoid a full-blown crisis with back-to-back wins over Norwich City and Burnley.
Shortly before kick-off, Arteta took the decision to allow long-serving club photographer Stuart MacFarlane to address the team inside the dressing room.
And even the Spaniard must have been surprised by the impact MacFarlane’s passionate speech had on the players.
What did Arsenal’s photographer say in his speech to team?
Handing over to MacFarlane, Arteta said: “I want you to hear from him what he thinks about you, because he sees you every day around our club.”
The photographer began: “It’s tough. This is my club. I f***ing love this football club.
“I f***ing love all of you.
“In 30 years, I’ve photographed some unbelievable players. Some world class players, some great teams.
“I look at you lot, this is a great team. This is a great team. I’ve been a fan all my life. This is what we have to do, we have to go out and win.
“This is me, I’m a fan, this lot outside… they would do anything to f***ing win today.
“Look at them. When you go out, first f***ing tackle, listen to the crowd. They will f***ing be on you straight away.
“Win every tackle. When you score, look at their faces. Look at the emotion, look how much they love you.
“Show them how much you love them. Okay?”
Every player and member of staff was visibly fired up by MacFarlane’s words.
