Tottenham Hotspur will look at signing Roma winger Nicolo Zaniolo in the remainder of the summer transfer window, according to Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

Antonio Conte has been busy putting his mark on the club this summer but could still strengthen before the summer transfer window shuts on September 1.

What is the latest transfer news from Hotspur Way?

Ahead of the 2022-23 campaign, six new faces have arrived at Tottenham, all of whom look set to play a part in the first team this season.

Richarlison, Yves Bissouma and Djed Spence have arrived for a combined fee of just over £90 million, while Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster have been snapped up on free transfers. Clement Lenglet’s arrival on a season-long loan deal from Barcelona completes the current recruitment drive.

But the spending is not necessarily finished there. Reports suggest that Conte is eager to add some more creativity to his side before the window closes and they have been linked with two exciting names.

Leicester City’s James Maddison is on the radar of Fabio Paratici and co while Roma winger Zaniolo is also being viewed as a potential option.

The Foxes are demanding £60 million for the services of Maddison with Newcastle currently locked in negotiations for the 25-year-old, while Zaniolo is reportedly available for £42 million.

What has Taylor said on a potential new recruit?

The Daily Express reporter understands that Tottenham are considering a move for Zaniolo this summer as they look to strengthen as much as possible.

However, Taylor feels that a move for Maddison is unlikely to happen at this stage of the window.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Nicolo Zaniolo is another one that they will look at. But as far as a bid for Maddison's concerned, it could happen but there's nothing at the moment to suggest that it’s going to materialise.”

Would Zaniolo be a good signing for Tottenham?

Given Maddison’s Premier League experience, he may be viewed as the more exciting signing out of the pair, but that does not mean Zaniolo cannot contribute.

At 23, the Italian is two years younger than Maddison and available for nearly £20 million less.

In 111 appearances with Roma he has scored 22 goals and provided a further 15 assists, playing across the front line and in midfield in the process.

One big concern for Spurs could be his injury record. Zaniolo missed the entire 2020-21 campaign with a ruptured cruciate ligament that side-lined him for 266 days. He also missed 11 matches last term with a plethora of problems.
