Everton still want to sign Chelsea striker Armando Broja this summer, says Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

However, Taylor has also told GIVEMESPORT that the west London club do not want to sell the 20-year-old.

What is the latest news involving Broja?

According to The Athletic, Everton retain an interest in Broja and fancy bringing the Albanian to Goodison Park on loan.

At the beginning of July, the MailOnline had reported that the Toffees were keen on Broja and suggested that he could cost £30m in this transfer window.

Things eventually went quiet, but it appears that Everton are still very much interested in signing the Chelsea academy graduate.

It was Frank Lampard who gave him his Premier League debut when he was still manager of Chelsea, bringing him off the bench in a 4-0 win against Everton back in 2020.

What has Taylor said about Broja and Everton?

Taylor says Everton are still eyeing Broja but Chelsea are looking to keep hold of him for now.

Speaking to GMS, the Daily Express journalist said: "Real Madrid made an enquiry, Newcastle and Everton remain interested, but at the moment, Chelsea are blocking his exit.

"We saw that they received a sizeable offer from West Ham for him, £30m, that's a good fee. But they don't want to sell. That's why West Ham moved on to Gianluca Scamacca."

Can Everton persuade Chelsea to let Broja go?

It is not hard to see why both Lampard and Thomas Tuchel want Broja in their squad. He showed a lot of promise during his loan spell at Southampton last season.

"Let me tell you, this lad is clinical," former Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer told Premier League Productions during the 2021/22 campaign. "His goal against Brentford made him the youngest player in Premier League history to score in each of his first four home starts.

"As a striker it’s all about taking chances and scoring goals, so stats like this tell me he can thrive in the Premier League."

Shearer later went on to add: "Broja is a young striker with an eye for goal and has a bright future in the Premier League."

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin continuing to struggle with injuries, Everton could really do with the arrival of another forward like Broja.

But with Timo Werner possibly set for a return to RB Leipzig, they are going to find it hard to convince Tuchel to let the Albania international go. Everything is pointing towards him becoming Kai Havertz's deputy for the 2022/23 season.
