Leeds United may have an interest in Southampton striker Che Adams, believes Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

The 26-year-old has recently been linked with a move to Elland Road, and Taylor thinks he is the kind of forward who fits Jesse Marsch's style.

What is the latest news involving Adams?

According to The Sun, Leeds are lining up a swoop for Adams this summer as Marsch looks to bring in a new No.9.

The newspaper claims the Yorkshire club would like to do business at around £10m, which is £5m less than what Southampton paid Birmingham City for his services back in 2019.

Marsch currently does not have too many options up front. The American can call upon Patrick Bamford, but he spent a lot of time on the sidelines last season due to injury, so that will be a concern.

Leeds also have Rodrigo, though you would not describe him as a lone No.9, with the Spain international having often played as a second striker in his career.

The above shows that the Whites could really do with bringing in a new centre-forward before the transfer window closes.

What has Taylor said about Adams and Leeds?

Taylor thinks there is a chance that Leeds are indeed interested in Adams and has not ruled out a move, though the Daily Express journalist feels it could be a sideways step for the 74-goal star.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, he said: "I can't say for definite, but I do think he is a player that is of interest to Leeds. Obviously they tried to sign him before and he fits that kind of style but, with all due respect, I know Leeds are a massive football club, but it's a bit of a sideways move from Southampton at the moment - both clubs kind of in that bottom half.

"That being said, if the interest is genuine, then there's no reason why a deal couldn't happen, but I can't really guarantee that he is a target. But I think Leeds obviously need a striker and he fits the style of play, so it's realistic."

Would Adams be a good signing for Leeds?

If he is coming in as a squad player, Adams could be a good addition to Leeds' squad. The Scotland international has Premier League experience, something the Whites' other signings this summer lack, and can provide cover for Bamford or even play alongside him.

"Adams is one I like a lot," Rangers legend Ally McCoist said (via Daily Echo) earlier this year.

"He’s such a clever player. He’s got a bit of pace and can go in behind and he can finish. We [Scotland] have lacked somebody who can go in behind and Adams can do that."

If Leeds can bring Adams to Elland Road for £10m this summer, it could end up being a smart piece of business.
