Tottenham Hotspur have accepted that they will have to make a loss on Tanguy Ndombele and Giovanni Lo Celso this summer as the club looks to off load some of its higher earners, according to Charlie Eccleshare of The Athletic.

Antonio Conte has overseen some exciting additions at Hotspur Way this summer but the focus may now turn to off-loading unwanted players.

What is the latest transfer news from Tottenham?

Six new signings have been made this summer, including the likes of Richarlison and Ivan Perisic, while only two first-team squad members have departed.

Winger Steven Bergwijn was snapped up by Ajax for £28 million while Cameron Carter-Vickers made his move to Celtic permanent, in a £6.3 million deal.

However, there are several other players who are surplus to requirements at the club still.

Harry Winks and Sergio Reguillon were left out of Conte’s squad for their pre-season trip to South Korea, alongside Lo Celso and Ndombele, with the latter two were signed for a combined £110 million in the summer of 2019 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

It appears the quartet are not in the Italian’s plans for the coming season and will be frantically looking for moves away.

But the club will likely have to accept a loss on the players.

What has Eccleshare said on the attempts to offload the stars?

Eccleshare understands that the powers at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium have accepted that they will have to take a loss to move them on.

The Athletic reporter told GIVEMESPORT: “What I've been told is that they accept they are going to have to make losses on some of these players. Obviously Ndombele and Lo Celso were signed in 2019, pre COVID, and they're not going to get anything like what they spent on those two.”

Where could the quartet move to?

Ndombele spent the second half of last season on loan with Lyon but it is a different Ligue 1 side eyeing a move for the 25-year-old this summer in the form of Marseille.

January also saw Lo Celso depart for Villarreal on loan and the Champions League semi-finalists look set to snap up the Argentinian on a permanent transfer this summer, according to reports in Spain.

Winks appears no closer to an exit than he was at the start of the summer but has been linked with a number of clubs including Everton and Southampton, although the former has cooled their interest in the midfielder.

Reguilon meanwhile has been locked in negotiations over a move to Sevilla but the left-back’s wage demands are proving a problem for the La Liga side, according AS via TEAMtalk.
