Ahead of his return this weekend, we take a look back at one of the most memorable UFC debuts of all-time from Terrance McKinney.

Since the UFC first opened its doors we’ve seen plenty of memorable debuts take place from the heavyweight division all the way down to strawweight. Alas, while some feature world class knockouts or dominant submissions, none have been quite as fast as what Terrance McKinney produced at UFC 263 in June 2021.

On that night in Glendale, McKinney made his first appearance in the UFC after taking a fight against Matt Frevola on short notice. The youngster was eight days removed from another KO win over Michael Irizarry Ortiz in LFA, and you could tell from the minute he walked to the cage that he wasn’t here to make up the numbers.

The contest was the definition of short and sweet as McKinney dropped Frevola with a quick one-two, followed up with a few more shots, and forced the referee to step in and stop the contest. Boom, just like that.

‘T Wrecks’ has never been shy about his intention to make a statement at the elite level and unfortunately for Matt Frevola, he was the one who will forever be known as the chap who fell at the feet of this hot prospect in just seven seconds.

The comeback beckons

They often say that the comeback is stronger than the setback and for someone like Terrance McKinney, we get the feeling that’s going to be true.

In addition to some of the struggles he had prior to entering MMA, things also haven’t entirely gone McKinney’s way in the Octagon.

He managed to follow up on the Frevola success with a nice submission win over Farès Ziam, but in his third outing against Drew Dober, his strong burst out of the gates wasn’t enough with Dober soaking up the pressure before finishing the 27-year-old in the first round.

This Saturday night in Las Vegas, McKinney gets the chance to right a wrong and get back in the win column when he takes on Erick Gonzalez in a belter of a scrap at lightweight.
