Fantasy Premier League: Ben Foster reveals his FPL squad for 22/23 season

Ben Foster, aka The Cycling GK, is currently without a club after leaving Watford at the conclusion of the 2022 season, but he’s keeping busy on his YouTube channel.

The Premier League finally starts again this week, with Fantasy Football managers dusting off their virtual suits or tracksuits for another season of battle with their friends.

Cycling GK Ben Foster has picked his team ahead of the new season and has shared it with his subscribers on YouTube, with the gameweek one deadline on the horizon.

Edouard Mendy – £5m

Fraser Forster – £4m

Goalkeepers are often a standard selection in Fantasy Football, with every player going for a regular starter and a cheap back-up with the number one for managers not wanting to waste a free transfer on a ‘keeper.

Picking Mendy from Chelsea who will be a top four contender is a safe bet for his number one, with the shot-stopper likely to bag plenty of points.

Sven Botman – £4.5m

Marc Cucurella – £5m

Marcos Alonso – £5.5m

Lisandro Martinez – £4.5m

Oleksandr Zinchenko – £5m

The first major shocks of his team come in the defence, leaving out the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson and Joao Cancelo who are all but destined for a major points haul.

Instead he’s gone for some cheaper options to free up funds for his stacked forward line. The decision to go for Marc Cucurella could be a genius move from him, especially if he makes the switch to Chelsea before the window shuts, although with all the speculation around his future, he may not be included in the Brighton squad.

Allan Saint-Maximin – £6.5m

Mohamed Salah – £13m

Rodri – £6m

Pedro Neto – £5.5m

Andreas Pereira – £4.5m

Foster has selected some big hitters in his midfield, including prolific point scorer Mohamed Salah who is almost a must for most managers, with the Egyptian King always a safe bet for the armband, regardless of his opposition.

With all bar one being attacking options, he’s opted for goals and assists from his midfield in his attempt to maximise points for his team. Going for wide players like Allan Saint-Maximin and Pedro Neto will hopefully get you a bagful of points.

Harry Kane – £11.5m

Erling Braut Haaland – £11.5m

Gabriel Jesus – £8m

Now this is where his team really comes into its own, with two massive names in Harry Kane and marquee signing for champions Man City, Erling Braut Haaland. Many will back the duo to bring home an unholy amount of points, so Foster is looking good here.

Like a sheep, he’s got Gabriel Jesus to complete his attacking options. The Brazilian is the most picked player in Fantasy Football history, so it’s no surprise to see him in his team.
