F1: Alex Albon extends Williams stay

Alex Albon will remain at Williams for 2023 and beyond with him signing a new, multi-year deal with the team.

The Grove-based outfit is looking to restore its glory days and Albon evidently wants to be a part of that, with him committing his future to 2023 and after, though the finer details of the contract in terms of length are not clear.

What is clear, though, is that Albon believes in the work that is being done in trying to get this famous old team back to the front of the grid, and they clearly believe in what he is doing as well behind the wheel.

Indeed, he has had a strong season so far in outperforming Nicholas Latifi, though the Canadian has closed the gap in recent races, and the way Albon has settled in so quickly to a completely new team and environment has to be applauded.

He’s now very much at home within the Williams garage, and will be hoping that more highs can be delivered following on from strong performances at the likes of Australia and Imola, among others.

Certainly, he is a driver that has rediscovered his form in the Williams this year after his time at Red Bull ended in tough circumstances, and he’s clearly delighted about it as well.

Taking to the team’s press release, he said:

“It’s really exciting to be staying with Williams Racing for 2023 and I look forward to seeing what we can achieve as a team in the remainder of this season and next year. The team is pushing hard to progress, and I am really motivated to continue this journey and further develop our learnings together.”
